2020 Lamborghini hypercar teased

New track-only model will be powered by a 6.5-litre V12, and have a six-speed sequential transmission.

Lamborghini has provided the world with the first details about its track-only hypercar, which is due to be revealed next year.

According to the company, the car will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine with around 610kW (830hp) of power.

It is paired to a six-speed sequential transmission from Xtrac, and a mechanical self-locking differential, which the driver can preload dynamically based on track conditions.

For the sake of comparison, the Aventador SVJ's version of the engine boasts 566kW of power and 720Nm of torque.

The teaser revealed overnight shows a silhouette similar to the Aventador, but distinguished by new bodywork, a massive rear wing, ground-hugging front and rear spoilers, and an air scoop on the roof. It's also said to feature a racing bonnet with dual air intakes.

Lamborghini says the new car will have a carbon-fibre monocoque with an aluminium front frame, a steel roll cage for the engine, and a load-bearing transmission unit to which the suspension is attached.

The new hypercar will be a track-only vehicle, but isn't being developed with race regulations in mind. It will be produced in limited numbers, although how many will be made has yet to be revealed.
