2020 Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo spied with less disguise

Porsche's new wagon variant should have improved luggage space and improved head room for passengers seated in the rear.

The new Porsche Taycan wagon has been spied with a minimal amount of disguise during testing in Germany.

Given the Panamera wagon is branded as the Sport Turismo, it seems likely the same name will be used for the Taycan's wagon sibling.

With its longer, flatter roof, the Sport Turismo should have better rear headroom, more boot space and improved load-carrying ability than the regular Taycan sedan.

While wagons are a small niche in Australia, they remain popular in Europe. For some models, the practical five-door body style outsells its sedan sibling.

It will also give the Taycan a clear point of difference over the Tesla Model S, which it is often compared against.

In terms of drivetrains, we expect the Sport Turismo to be available with the same offerings as the sedan.

Currently the Taycan sedan range kicks with the 4S, which has a 390kW setup with 407km of range using the WLTP standard, or more powerful 420kW system with 463km of range.

Next up are the confusingly-named 500kW/850Nm Turbo and 560kW/1050Nm Turbo S, both of which are pure electric vehicles without a turbocharger.

As with earlier Taycan sedan prototypes, this wagon was pictured with fake exhausts.
