2020 Hyundai Ioniq pricing and specs

Hyundai Australia has detailed the updated 2020 Ioniq line-up, once again including Hybrid, Plug-in and Electric models.

Externally, there's minor design changes across the range, including new LED lighting at both ends (Electric and Premium models), revised bumpers and accents, along with new alloy wheel designs.

There's no changes to the drivetrains of the petrol-electric Hybrid and Plug-in variants, though the Electric gets an uprated battery pack and electric motor – now listed at 38.3kWh and 100kW/295Nm respectively.

With the new EV system, the Ioniq Electric claims to offer up to 311km of range on the stricter WLTP cycle, or 373km on the old NEDC regime. The outgoing model offered a less impressive 293km on the NEDC cycle.

As before, all three powertrains are offered in two specification levels, Elite and Premium.

Pricing kicks off at $34,790 plus on-road costs for the Hybrid Elite, and tops out at $52,490 plus on-road costs for the Electric Premium. That works out to an estimated drive-away price range of between $38,855 and $57,294.

There's increase of between $800 and $1000 for the Hybrid and Plug-in, while the Electric variants are just under $4000 pricier than before. Obviously much of the significant increase for the Electric is the upgraded motor and battery pack.

Base versions now come equipped with a much larger 10.25-inch navigation system as standard, while other standard kit from the base Hybrid Elite includes 15-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, an eight-speaker Infinity premium audio system, keyless entry and start, Hyundai Auto Link, and a suite of Hyundai SmartSense driver assist systems like autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, high-beam assist, and driver attention monitoring.

Premium grades get adaptive cruise control with stop&go, semi-autonomous lane following assist, leather-appointed seats, a 7.0-inch TFT driver's instrument display, a glass sunroof, front parking sensors, a 10-way power driver's seat with memory function, rain-sensing wipers, wireless smartphone charging, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power-folding side mirrors, and full-LED headlights.

Hyundai has also trimmed the colour options for 2020, with just four exterior finishes available – Polar White, Intense Blue, Iron Grey, and Fiery Red. Premium paints command and additional $495, for all hues bar white.
