2020 Subaru Levorg ‘prototype’ leaked ahead of debut

The second-generation Subaru Levorg 'prototype' has been leaked just ahead of its debut at the 2019 Tokyo motor show.

Technically the car which will be unveiled at the Tokyo show is a "prototype", but it looks practically production ready.

This image of the Levorg Prototype was found on the upcoming edition of Japanese magazine Web Car, an advance copy of which was photographed and sent to Carscoops.

The new Levorg will move to Subaru's new global architecture, which underpins the current Impreza and Forester, and the Legacy/Liberty sedan and Outback wagon on sale in the US.

Like the present Levorg the new car should share a lot mechanically with the Impreza, but will feature a completely unique body.

Up front, the new Levorg's headlights, grille and front visage are much more aggressively styled than those of the Impreza. The bonnet scoop hints at a turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine underneath.

As we saw in an earlier teaser photo, the next-generation wagon will have squared off wheel arches, and more assertive surfacing than the Impreza.

The hunkered-down stance, full side skirts, and large alloy wheels suggest the Prototype previews a top-of-the-range model.

Dark window tinting completely hides the interior from view but, if precedent is a guide it will be largely Impreza-based.
