The fourth-generation Skoda Octavia has been sketched ahead of its unveiling that's reportedly set to take place on November 11.

From the illustration we can see the new model will continue with the design themes laid out with the Scala. At the front, there's a pair of angular headlights surrounding the latest take on the company's corporate grille.

Along the sides we can see a sharp shoulder crease with a heavy shadow. Out the back, the Octavia will have crystalline tail-lights and the Skoda word mark in place of the brand's badge on the boot lid.

Under the skin, the Octavia will use the same updated MQB platform as the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf, which have its global launch on October 24.

Turbocharged petrol and diesel engines should form the core of the car's drivetrain options. If reports out of Europe are accurate, many models will feature a 48V mild hybrid system to improve fuel economy. A plug-in hybrid variant also seems likely.

From earlier spy photos of the Octavia's interior, we know it will be available with a digital instrumentation display, and a large touchscreen infotainment unit mounted high up on the dashboard.

As is currently case, the Octavia will be available as both a five-door liftback and wagon.

When is the new Octavia coming to Australia?

Skoda Australia has indicated the next-generation Octavia should arrive in Australian showrooms in early 2021.
