2020 Mini Countryman pricing and specs
Revised SUV range sees variant-dependent mechanical and equipment upgrades, headlined by the arrival of the beefed-up 225kW John Cooper Works All4 and renamed Countryman Hybrid.
Mini Australia has detailed full pricing and specifications for the 2020 Countryman line-up, which sees mechanical and equipment upgrades depending on model.
The hierarchy remains as it was before, meaning the range begins with the Cooper and Cooper D, then climbs to the Cooper S and Cooper SD, and tops out with the plug-in hybrid Cooper SE 'Hybrid' and John Cooper Works.
From July production, the Cooper and Cooper S turbocharged petrol models are now fitted as standard with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, compared to the outgoing six- and eight-speed torque converter units respectively.
Oddly, the switch to dual-clutch autos sees claimed fuel consumption rise in both variants, with the Cooper now rated at 6.3L/100km (up 0.3L) while the Cooper S wears a 6.6L/100km rating (up 0.1L/100km). This is likely down to using WLTP testing to get official figures, with the outgoing figures based on the older NEDC regime.
Power and torque figures carry over, meaning 100kW/220Nm for the Cooper's 1.5-litre three-pot and 141kW/280Nm for the Cooper S's 2.0-litre turbo four.
The Cooper D and Cooper SD All4 retain their eight-speed autos, with the base Cooper and Cooper D gaining standard leatherette upholstery in Carbon Black and sports front seats over the previous model year.
Cooper S and Cooper SD All4 variants don't appear to get any equipment changes, and the only difference between the MY19 and MY20 plug-in hybrid versions is the name – formerly 'Cooper SE All4', now simply 'Hybrid'.
Finally, the updated John Cooper Works All4 (above) powers up with a 225kW/450Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four shared with the new Clubman John Cooper Works All4 and the BMW X2 M35i xDrive.
The 0-100 time drops to 5.1 seconds (claimed), down by nearly 1.5 seconds, while fuel consumption is rated at 7.9L/100km.
Compared to last year's model, the JCW gains electric front seat adjustment, and heated front seats. There's also the Mirror Package now standard with anti-dazzle units.
Pricing remains the same across the range bar the JCW, which is now listed at $65,900 plus on-road costs excluding LCT.
