2020 Lexus LC Convertible spied

The drop-top LC500 has been caught in the open, with looks straight from the motor show floor.

No, that's not the concept. Lexus has been snapped shooting a commercial for its upcoming 2020 LC Convertible, and looks just as show-stopping as we'd hoped.

Set for reveal at the Tokyo motor show, the LC Convertible is exactly what you'd expect – a drop-top version of the LC500 coupe, with power (hopefully) from a free-revving Yamaha V8 and/or the LC500h's V6 hybrid system.

Previewed by a concept at the 2019 Detroit motor show, the LC Convertible will feature a folding soft-top roof to fit into the tight rear end. Based on previous reports and the images we can see here, it'll be a four-seater with part-time rear seats.

After teasing the production car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it appears likely Lexus will reveal the LC drop-top at its home motor show next week.

Expect to hear more details about what will power the car – previously, it has been snapped wearing only the regular LC500 badge applied to the V8, not the LC500h badges applied to the hybrid.

Lexus Australia’s CEO, Scott Thompson, has previously said the LC Convertible would be a welcome addition to the local range.

“We are very keen to secure this stunning new convertible for Australia now that production has been confirmed,” he said.
