2020 BMW X3, X4 pricing and specs

BMW has upgraded its mid-sized crossovers, the X3 and X4, for the 2020 model year with minor spec changes accompanied by a small price rise.

The X3 line-up starts at $63,900 before on-road costs for the sDrive20i, up $1000. In fact the entire range has been given a $1000 price bump.

It's powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol as before, sending the same 135kW and 290Nm to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, satellite navigation, and niceties like automatic LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers.

For 2020, the base petrol has been upgraded with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional and 32GB of storage, which means the entire range has a digital instrument binnacle, along with wireless phone charging and the 'Connected Package Professional' with a year of wireless Apple CarPlay.

Autonomous emergency braking, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, along with lane departure warning are standard across the range.

Moving up to the xDrive20d maintains the same equipment levels, but subs the petrol engine for a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel making 140kW and 400Nm. It's priced from $67,900 before on-road costs.

The xDrive30i is powered by a variation of the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol offered in the 20i, but it's been uprated to make 185kW and 350Nm. Pricing kicks off at $73,900 before on-road costs.

The xDrive30d gets a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel making 195kW and 620Nm, and is priced from $83,900 before on-road costs.

Both petrol and diesel '30' models gain natural leather trim, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, an electric bootlid, and a surround-view camera over the base '20' line-up.

Finally, the range-topping M40i is now priced from $100,900 before on-road costs. It's powered by 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol now making 285kW and 500Nm (up 20kW), and rides on 21-inch alloy wheels as standard. There's also a range of M-fettled bits included on the spec sheet, including an M differential and brakes.

The coupe-styled X4 has seen the same price rise and spec adjustments across the range, which now starts with the xDrive20i priced from $77,900 before on-road costs.

Moving up to the xDrive20d increases the price to $80,900 before on-road costs, while the xDrive30i is priced from $84,900 before on-roads.

There's no xDrive30d, but the M40i kicks off at $110,900 before on-road costs.
