Bollinger B1 and B2: Electric SUV and ute revealed

Two years after Bollinger revealed its initial prototype vehicles, the company has revealed its utilitarian B1 electric SUV and B2 pickup truck.

B1

The B1 features an electric motor for both axles delivering a total of 458kW of power, and 906Nm of torque. Bollinger estimates the B1 is capable of completing the 0-60mph (0-97km/h) dash in 4.5 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 160km/h.

Given the car's off-road positioning, the B1 also comes with a two-speed high- and low-range gearbox, and 381mm of ground clearance. The company says it has a 52 degree approach angle, 30 degree break over angle, and 43 degree departure angle.

Fitted with a 120kWh battery pack, the Bollinger expects the B1 to have a range of around 320 kilometres under the EPA testing regime. The car supports DC fast charging via its CCS port, which can recharge the battery in a mere 75 minutes.

While the B1's boxy shape gives the impression it's the size of a Hummer, it's actually rather petite, albeit wide and tall. The B1 is just 4.36m long, 1.96m wide, 1.85m tall, rides on a 3.02m wheelbase, and only has seating for four people.

Cargo capacity can be increased to around 2800 litres by removing the rear seats, but they're not the only things you can exile from the car, as the windscreen, doors, windows and roof panels are all "easily removable".

Both the B1 and B2 feature a 396L front trunk, and are available with all-glass roof panels.

B2

The B2 ute uses the same drivetrain as the B1, and despite weighing 90kg more at 2268kg, it has the same performance and range figures.

Measuring 5.27m from tip to tail, and sitting on a 3.53m wheelbase, the B2 is significantly longer than its SUV sibling and has a tray length of 1.75m. For long items, the B2 has a flip down wall and flip up rear windscreen to grant access to the cabin.

While cargo capacity is substantially increased, off-road ability is reduced, with the B2 featuring a 25 degree break over angle and 28 degree departure angle.

Bollinger has yet to announce when they will put the B1 and B2 into production, or how much the two cars will cost.
