2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series spied

New Black Series variant looks to dish up big power, and an even larger serving of wings.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has been spied during testing on public roads in Germany.

Like earlier Black Series models, the range-topping GT variant is no shrinking violet.

At the front there are splitters and spoilers large enough to slice through a leg of ham. The bonnet looks to be a completely new unit with a large central air intake, a massive scallop on one side and external latches.

As with the GT R Pro, the Black Series has vents above the front wheel arches. It goes without saying the Black Series has wide sills, and some very chunky rubber at the rear.

Out the back, the Black Series has an unmissable dual-level wing that promises to produce mammoth quantities of downforce. A new protruding diffuser is framed by twin exhaust tips on both sides.

We expect a new version of the company's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to be lurking underneath the bonnet.

Rumours indicate the engine could make as much as 700hp (522kW), which would be a big step up from the 430kW currently available in the GT R and GT R Pro.

It's not clear when the AMG GT Black Series will be unveiled, but it could be the current-generation car's swan song model given the GT range made its production debut back in 2014.
