The Fiat 500X Sport has been unveiled, but it won't be making the long journey to Australia.
In Europe, the 500X will be available with two petrol engines: a 88kW 1.0-litre with a six-speed manual, and a 110kW 1.3-litre Firefly mill with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
To justify its name, the new 500X variant comes with retuned suspension that's 13mm lower, 18-inch alloy wheels, and revised steering calibration.
Handling can be further improved by upgrading to 19-inch wheels with performance tyres. Cars equipped with the 1.3-litre engine also gain frequency selective damping at both ends.
Visually, the Sport is distinguished from other 500X models by its body colour side skirts and wheel arches, two chromed exhaust tips, full LED headlights, titanium grey trim, and a diffuser-style element in the rear bumper.
Sport Red pastel is a new colour available exclusively on the 500X Sport. Other options include white, black, grey and blue. All paint choices can be paired with a contrasting black roof.
The cabin gains a flat-bottom steering wheel with fake suede grips, aluminium pedals and gear knob, "techno" leather upholstery, grey faux metal dashboard insert, and red stitching.
Standard features on the Sport include traffic sign recognition, lane assist, cruise control, climate control, and rear parking sensors. There's also a Uconnect infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Fiat Chrysler Australia has confirmed the 500X will not be offered locally.
