2020 Abarth 595 Pista unveiled, coming to Australia

The Abarth 595 Pista has been unveiled, with the new model bridging the gap between the base 595 and 595 Competizione.

Under the bonnet, the 595 Pista has a revised 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine with a larger Garrett turbocharger. It is rated at 121kW of power, and 230Nm of torque at 2250rpm.

This makes the Pista more powerful than the regular 595, which has 107kW/206Nm, but less punchy than the 132kW/250Nm Competizione. The Pista also, incidentally, seems to have the same motor as the 595 Turismo sold in Europe.

Like the Competizione, the Pista is fitted with a Record Monza Active exhaust system, and Koni rear suspension with frequency selective damping.

Stopping power comes courtesy of a 284mm discs at the front, and 240mm units at the rear.

The cabin features a flat-bottom steering wheel with a red centre mark, as well as a Sport button that alters the power steering, throttle and torque settings.

Other standard features include a UConnect infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and support for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring standards.

Fiat Australia has confirmed the 595 Pista will grace local showrooms, with the company set to confirm timing towards the end of the year.
