The new Defender will make its debut at the 2019 Frankfurt motor show... but we already have a pretty good idea how it'll look.

Land Rover has ramped up the tease on its upcoming 2020 Defender, despite leaked images already revealing the car's front end earlier this week.

The image released by Land Rover is clearly designed to burnish the Defender's off-road credentials, showing a single-bar grille and 'DEFENDER' lettering across the front of the bonnet covered in mud. How very rugged.

By revealing this teaser, the team at Land Rover has also confirmed some of the details revealed in a string of leaked images. For one, the bluff nose and single-bar grille perfectly match what we saw on the car pictured below

Earlier this week, the new off-roader popped up on Instagram kitted-out in black for the latest James Bond film. The pictures reveal what we were expecting: the new Defender will be a more modern take on the classic, boxy formula, heavily inspired by the DC100 concept.

We already know three body styles will be offered in the new Defender line-up: the 90, 110 and 130. Expect to see the 110 in October with five-, six- and seven-seat option, along with a choice of six engines.

All drivetrains come standard with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.

Extreme off-road and SVR versions of the Defender could also feature, although details about them are thin on the ground.

The new Defender will debut at the Frankfurt motor show on September 10, European time.
