Bollinger B1 and B2: Reveal coming for utilitarian electric off-roader

Bollinger is set to reveal production versions of its boxy B1 SUV and B2 ute, this week posting a teaser video on YouTube.

The prototype B1 SUV was described as "the world’s first all-electric, all-wheel drive, off-road utility truck", while the B2 dual-cab ute promised load-lugging credentials to match some of Australia's favourite dual-cab utes.

Both the B1 and B2 use an all-aluminium chassis with a steel rollover structure to keep weight down, and ride on fully-adjustable, self-levelling hydro-pneumatic suspension with disconnecting sway bars.

The longer B2 dual-cab ute has a 120kWh battery pack and electric motors on both axles, good for 388kW of power and 700Nm of torque. It'll hit 60mph (97km/h) in 6.5 seconds, and has a 3400kg towing capacity and 2265kg payload.

Range is a claimed 322km on the EPA test cycle, and you'll be able to charge in 75 minutes using a level-three DC fast charger, or 10 hours on a regular wall plug.

Meanwhile, the B1 SUV promises 268kW and 640Nm from its two motors, along with a choice of 60kWh and 100kWh battery packs.

Bollinger's latest teaser doesn't reveal a heap about the look of its production-ready ute and SUV, but says they'll be revealed on September 26. Stay tuned for more in the lead-up to their reveal.
