2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS pricing and specs

Skoda Australia has finally released pricing and specifications for the new Kodiaq RS, set to arrive in showrooms before the end of the year.

Priced from $65,990 before on-road costs, the RS commands a $13,500 premium over the starting price of the Kodiaq 132TSI Sportline, though offsets this somewhat with enhanced equipment levels, and of course what's under the bonnet.

The Kodiaq RS is the first Volkswagen Group model in Australia to be powered by the company's 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel, which develops 176kW at 4000rpm and 500Nm between 1750rpm and 2500rpm. Drive is sent to an on-demand all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed DSG automatic, with Skoda claiming a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.0 seconds.

Standard equipment includes an RS-specific front bumper, adaptive LED headlights, gloss black exterior accents, tinted windows, red brake calipers, LED headlights, an integrated reflector strip in the rear bumper, dual tailpipes with chrome finishers, 20-inch 'Xtreme' alloy wheels, Adaptive Chassis Control, and a model-specific version of the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument binnacle.

There's also a multifunction sports steering wheel with paddles, contrasting red stitching and RS logo, Alcantara and leather sports seats with carbon-look detailing and RS branding, carbon-style dashboard and door trim inserts, a 9.2-inch navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, wireless phone charging, three-zone climate control, electric tailgate with virtual pedal, front and rear heated seats, electric front seat adjustment with memory, 360-degree surround camera system, and 'Dynamic Sound Boost' – which incorporates a sound generator into the exhaust system which enhances the 'acoustic experience' inside and outside the vehicle.

In terms of driver assistance and safety features, the Kodiaq RS is equipped with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, nine airbags, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane assist.

There's a handful of single-item options too, should you want to fully deck out your Kodiaq RS. Metallic paint asks for $770 extra, while a panoramic roof will set you back $1900. Finally, a set of side steps can be had for $1300.

Skoda is aiming square at premium SUV players, too, comparing the Kodiaq RS's pricing and features to the likes of the Volvo XC60 D5 R-Design and Jaguar F-Pace 20d R-Sport – with the company claiming with equivalent specification would cost $12,500 and $29,900 more respectively.

As for warranty and servicing, the Kodiaq RS is covered by the Czech brand's five year, unlimited kilometre warranty, with two service packages available at purchase.

The three-year plan ($900) covers you for the first 45,000km and offers a claimed saving of $399, while the five-year package is priced at $1700 and covers the first 75,000km.

Regardless of which service plan you choose, both include roadside assistance for the duration of the package, along with fluids, pollen filter and satellite navigation map updates.
