An issue with the control unit for the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners has forced an array of Ferraris back to the dealer.

Ferrari has recalled the 458 Speciale and Speciale Spider, 488 GTB, California T, the 488 Spider, and the F12 Berlinetta.

According to the company, the TRW Airbag Electronic Control Unit responsible for the airbag and seatbelt pretensioners might not conform with correct standards, which could lead to power supply failure and make the airbags or pretensioners activate. The airbag warning light on the dash will illuminate.

If the problem occurs and the airbags or pretensioners don't function in an accident, there's a greater risk of injury to occupants.

A total of 65 cars are included in the recall – a VIN list is attached here.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Ferrari Australasia and advised to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
