Buick crossover spied in Europe
Mysterious new crossover vehicle spotted during hot weather testing, and could be bound for the Chinese market.
A large Buick crossover has been spied undergoing hot weather testing in southern Europe.
Up front the car sports a prominent set of LED driving lights in the shape of a tipped over L. These lights sit above a wide chrome bar joined to an oversized grille.
The main headlight unit sits lower in the front fascia, and will likely be disguised to some degree. The crossover has smooth flanks, while the rear features a wide chrome bar joining up the two sets of tail-lights.
Many of these design elements are present in current Opel/Vauxhall and Buick models, as the brands were paired together during their time together in the GM stable.
What leads us to believe this car is a Buick are the wing mirrors, which look almost identical to the units fitted to the new Chevrolet Blazer and recently spotted on a Blazer XL prototype, along with six-stud wheels as seen locally on the Holden Acadia along with other so-called 'mid-size' GM SUVs
This vehicle also looks larger than any other PSA Group vehicle, and the chase vehicle seems to be a Cadillac XT4.
Both the Chevrolet Blazer XL and this development vehicle were spied in Europe, a market GM retreated from when it withdrew the Chevrolet brand in 2015 and sold Opel/Vauxhall to the French PSA Group in 2017.
Should this car be a Buick prototype, it will likely be aimed at the Chinese market and sit above the Envision as the brand's flagship crossover. The 5.1m eight-seat Enclave is currently only sold in North America.
