2020 Audi RS6 teased

Audi Sport has released another teaser of the next-generation RS6 performance wagon ahead of a full reveal next month.

Likely to make its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show, the new RS6 is anticipated to utilise some form of electrification to not only get a power boost but also to reduce emissions and fuel use.

Power is likely to come from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 making around 447kW (600hp) on its own, with reports speculating a more powerful version with mild-hybrid technology could see the power output grow to a monstrous 522kW (700hp).

The RS6 is also expected to move from the previous-generation car's 'Tiptronic' eight-speed torque converter automatic to a quicker-shifting dual-clutch unit, potentially related to the transmission used in the new Bentley Continental GT.

With the extra grunt, quattro all-wheel drive and lighter MLB Evo underpinnings, the new RS6 should be capable of accelerating to triple figures in under 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of over 300km/h with the standard  electronic speed limiter deleted.

Being based on the new A6 Avant, the RS6 will offer a slew of new infotainment and driver assistance technologies not previously offered on the old car, including semi-autonomous driving abilities and Audi's new dual-screen infotainment setup.

In typical 'RS' fashion, the RS6 should build on the A6 Avant on which it's based by adding a more aggressive and wider bodykit, massive wheels shod in grippy performance tyres, and have two oval-shaped tailpipes out back hooked up to a sports exhaust system.

The new RS6 will be one of six new RS models due for reveal before the end of the year, set to be joined by the related RS7 Sportback, the all-new RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback, a facelifted RS4 Avant, and the all-new RS Q8.
