2020 Honda NSX debuts new heritage colour in Monterey

'Indy Yellow Pearl' joins the range for the new model year, paying tribute to the original supercar's 'Spa Yellow'.

Honda's luxury arm Acura has revealed the 2020 NSX supercar for Monterey Car Week, debuting a new Indy Yellow Pearl which the company says is a "modern interpretation of sought-after Spa Yellow" offered on the 1997-2003 NSX.

"Spa Yellow, known as "Indy Yellow" in some markets, was applied to around 20-percent of NSXs produced between 1997 and 2003," the company says in its press release.

Indy Yellow Pearl joins Berlina Black as one of two 'heritage' colours in the current NSX palette, and commands a US$1000 ($1468) premium over the base price.

There doesn't appear to be any other changes for the 2020 model year, at least in North America, while pricing starts at US$157,500 ($231,319) with deliveries commencing in November.

Power continues to come from a hybrid drivetrain teaming a 373kW/550Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 with three electric motors (one at each front wheel and one assisting the rear axle), making for system outputs of 427kW and 646Nm.

That grunt is channelled to the tarmac via a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic and Honda's Sport Hybrid all-wheel drive system.

Every NSX is manufactured a the company's Performance Manufacturing Centre in Marysville, Ohio.

Australia

A spokesperson for Honda Australia told CarAdvice: "At this stage the announcement is for the NSX’s home market in the US, so the new exterior colour has not yet been confirmed for Australia".

The MY19 NSX currently retails for $420,000 plus on-road costs, working out to a drive-away sticker of just over $471,000 in metro Victoria.
