Mercedes-Benz preparing new EQ concept for Frankfurt

Mercedes-Benz will use this year's Frankfurt motor show to reveal another EQ concept car, suggesting a new pure-electric car wearing the three-pointed star is in the works.

The two previous Mercedes-Benz EQ concept cars have previewed production models: the Generation EQ became the EQC, while the EQV Concept will become the EQV, also set to launch this September.

There are no details about what the concept will be, besides the promise it'll embody "the flexible, customer-oriented and sustainable vision of the Mercedes-Benz product and technology brand EQ".

Mercedes has hinted at EQB and EQE models in the coming years, so we'd suggest it could be one of those.

Alongside the plug-in concept will be the production EQV, and the first Mercedes-AMG version of the new GLB. Based on the rollout of previous compact AMG models, we'll see the AMG GLB35 first, powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 225kW and 400Nm.

Pictured above, the AMG-fettled GLB will also get a sportier suspension than the standard car, along with a performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system capable of sending 50 per cent of its power to the rear axle.

Expect a 100km/h sprint in the high-four or low-five-second range, and the option of seven seats.

The Frankfurt motor show starts on September 12.
