Tesla brings back free Supercharging for Model X and S

There is a catch, however. The offer lasts as long as the buyer has their car, but it only applies to the first owner – the second owner will have to pay like everyone else.

The offer won't be extended to buyers who have recently bought a Tesla Model S or Model X, but anyone who's taken delivery of the car within the last seven days can return their vehicle for a full refund and reorder it to take advantage of the offer.

Previously, the American carmaker offered Model S and Model X buyers 400kWh of free Supercharging per year.

Tesla's pricing and model structure is constantly changing, both in Australia and around the world. The Model S and Model X were previously offered with 70kWh and 75kWh battery packs, but the option was dropped in January to make room for the Model 3.

The brand's pricing was slashed in March, too, with cuts of up to $80,000 handed down to the Model S and X. Tesla then reversed course and re-adjusted the prices, frustrating owners with a lack of clarity and the risk of severely reduced residual values.
