2020 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo facelift spied

The German brand's refreshed tall-body hatch gets a bit of summer sun before its debut, possibly next year.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo facelift has been spied in southern Europe during a spot of hot weather testing.

The prototype's front and rear bumpers, as well as the headlights and part of the bonnet, are covered in disguise tape, but none of the car's metal panels look as though they've been altered.

It's hard to see what changes BMW is planning to make the Gran Turismo's bumpers, but we suspect they'll be given a more aggressive design.

Like the 7 Series update, the two halves of the GT's double kidney grille could be merged, made slightly taller and more prominent.

Despite the tape, we can see new graphics for the headlights. The headlight units themselves also look a little squarer and less organic than the ones currently used.

At the back there are reshaped exhaust tips to complement the redesigned rear bumper.

Interestingly the tail-lights on this vehicle are unchanged and camouflage-free. Either BMW is truly intent on keeping them a secret, or the facelift will be less far-reaching than the one seemingly planned for the 5 Series.

Whatever drivetrain and technology updates BMW is planning for the facelifted 5 Series range will more than likely flow through to the closely related 6 Series GT.
