2019 BMW 840i pricing and specs

BMW has added two fresh variants to its 8 Series line-up in Australia, with the 840i Coupe and Convertible set to arrive in September.

Sitting below the M850i, power in the 840i (from $202,900) comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six petrol making 250kW and 500Nm. It's put to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, good for a 100km/h sprint of 5.0 seconds (5.3 seconds for the drop-top).

The lower-end petrol 8 Series gets a strong list of standard equipment, including 20-inch alloy wheels and rear-wheel steering. Keyless entry is included, along with heated/ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and the latest BMW OS7.0 infotainment system – with a 12.3-inch digital instrument binnacle and 10.25-inch touchscreen.

BMW's full suite of active driver assists are standard, along with parking assist and a surround-view camera, and the reversing assistant.

The coupe also gets gesture control, a unique headliner, and a 16-speaker surround-sound system, while the convertible comes with the 'air collar' heating system, and a 12-speaker audio system.

A set of M Sport bucket seats has been added to the options list of the M850i and 840i, complete with an illuminated M logo, priced from $2600.

The M Sport Plus package is available on the 840i, bringing with it a set 20-inch light alloy wheels, M Sport brakes, coloured seatbelts, a rear spoiler, and tyre-pressure monitoring. It's priced from $3900 on the coupe and $3400 on the convertible.

The 840i will be in showrooms at the start of September. Note: M850i xDrive coupe shown
