2020 Skoda Scala and Kamiq to gain Monte Carlo editions

Skoda has confirmed it will add Monte Carlo models to its new Scala hatch and Kamiq crossover ranges.

Details and photos of the new models have yet to be released, but if recent Monte Carlo models are anything to go by, the new Scala and Kamiq variants will receive a whole bunch of styling changes and equipment upgrades, but no extra power or torque.

Features will likely include black alloy wheels, wing mirror caps, grille insert and interior trim pieces. Also expect to see the addition of a spoiler or two, sportier front seats, red stitching, metal pedals, and possibly leather coverings for the steering wheel and gear shifter.

As with earlier Monte Carlo variants, these new iterations of the Scala and Kamiq should be offered with a broad array of engines.

Those hanging out for improved performance will have to wait for possible RS variants of the Scala and Kamiq.

Skoda says it began using the Monte Carlo name way back in 1936 with a limited run of the Popular (above) after the car managed to finish second its category at the rally.

The designation was revived in 2011 when it was applied to the Fabia hatch.
