Pagani Huayra BC Roadster unveiled

Pagani has overnight unveiled the Huayra BC Roadster, just over three years after the hardtop Huayra picked up the mantle from Pagani's first car, the Zonda.

Like the coupe, the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster features a unique body developed with both eyes on increasing downforce, creating a claimed 500kg at 280km/h.

The Huayra BC Roadster has a dry weight of 1250 kilograms, making it 30kg lighter than the regular Roadster, but 32kg heavier than the BC coupe.

Power comes from a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, originally developed by Mercedes-Benz, tuned to deliver 590kW at 5900rpm. Peak torque is 1050Nm, available from below 2000rpm.

All of this funnelled to the rear wheels via an Xtrac seven-speed automated manual transmission and an electro-mechanical differential.

In addition to the car's signature centrally-mounted quad exhaust tips, the BC Roadster features two exhaust outlets from the catalytic converters.

Despite the car's impressive output figures, Pagani has yet to reveal the BC Roadster's performance numbers. The company says the car can handle 1.9G of lateral force during constant running, and up to 2.2G.

Stopping ability comes courtesy of a Brembo system including 398mm discs up front with six-piston calipers, and 380mm units at the rear with four-pot calipers.

The BC Roadster rides on 20-inch forged alloy wheels paired with 265/30 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres at the front, and 21-inch rims with 355/25 rubber out the back. There's also double wishbone suspension at both ends, and electronically-controlled shocks.

Pagani will produce only 40 copies of the Huayra BC Roadster with the price in Europe starting from €3.085 million ($5 million) before taxes.
