Cupra teases first all-electric model

Cupra is preparing to reveal the A-SUVe, a concept previewing its first pure-electric model, at the 2019 Frankfurt motor show.

The sub-brand of Seat is promising the production A-SUVe will be the "first road Cupra to use a 100 per cent electric powertrain" when it launches.

Although it's an SUV, the plug-in crossover will launch with a style-focused sloping roofline. The teaser doesn't give much away, but the car's profile clearly shares plenty with the BMW X4 or Mercedes GLC Coupe.

There's a slim LED strip linking the taillights, and an illuminated take on the Cupra badge in the middle of the bootlid.  There are also strakes on the front edge of the rear windscreen, something we saw on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution before its demise.

The nose will house a set of angular headlamps, too, along with an aggressively-shaped

Cupra hasn't revealed what will reside under the A-SUVe's skin, but it would be logical to suggest the car will ride on a variation of the Volkswagen Group MEB platform.

Seat has previously promised to offer six electrified models by 2021.
