Mitsubishi's new ute-based Pajero Sport SUV has been leaked a full week ahead of its reveal.
The images published on Philippines website AutoIndustriya confirm what we already suspected – the Pajero Sport will get a nose inspired by the Triton. The car's headlamps have been simplified, and integrate neatly into its 'Dynamic Shield' grille.
There are prominent fog lights in the chunky front bumper, and the bash plate has been given a new, more stylised look.
Down back, the tall taillights maintain their shape and housings, but appear to have gained fresh LED internals. The glass also looks like it's been smoked, but that could just be a Philippines-specific design touch.
The lower rear bumper has been reworked with a silver garnish to match the front bash plate, and there's a fresh boot spoiler, but the changes are subtle. This particular car rides on new alloy wheels, to top things off.
Inside, we're expecting to see more upmarket materials on the Pajero Sport. The centre stack looks to have been mildly shuffled, with lower-set air conditioning controls, but we'll have to get a closer look at Australian-market cars for a comprehensive list of what's changed.
The current model launched in 2015, and is one of the strongest-selling ute-based SUVs on the market. It trails the best-selling Isuzu MU-X by just 500 sales year-to-date, and has comfortably outsold the Ford Everest, Toyota Fortuner and Holden Trailblazer.
The new Triton was treated to a range of minor powertrain updates, designed to improve refinement without squeezing out any extra power. Currently, the Pajero Sport is powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine making 133kW and 430Nm.
We'd suggest that technology could make its way down the range, although we'll have to wait until the new car is revealed in Thailand later this month for more details.
