2020 Ford Mustang revealed, here in November

Ford Australia has updated the Mustang sports car for the 2020 model year, with retro-inspired colour options.

There is also a new visual enhancement pack for more personalisation options than ever before.

Scheduled to land in local showrooms from November, the MY20 Ford Mustang will offer four new colours, including the eye-catching 'Grabber Lime' (pictured) from the company's heritage palette – inspired by the 'Grabber' finish available on the Mustang in North America during the early 1970s.

Other new hues include Twister Orange, another heritage colour, along with Iconic Silver and Red Hot.

Complementing the new colour options is the Black Shadow Pack (pictured), priced at $1000. Additional features include a black painted roof, black bonnet stripes, black side stripes, special ten-spoke dark finish 19-inch alloys, black Pony grille badging, and black 5.0L badging on the front guards.

Vehicles specified with the 'High-Rise' rear wing also get a black spoiler when the package is specified.

"The Mustang is an icon, and Australian customers have been asking for more ways to customise and individualise their particular vehicle, so we’re pleased to offer more ways of doing just that," said Kay Hart, CEO and president of Ford Australia.

"These new offerings help make the 2020 Mustang really stand out, and for the first time, our Ford Service Benefits program, with our Service Price Promise, is part of Mustang ownership, too."

Speaking of the Ford Service Benefits program, the initiative extends to all versions of the 2020 Mustang, meaning the first four years/60,000km of scheduled maintenance will cost no more than $299 (including GST) at participating dealerships, bolstered by the five year/unlimited kilometre warranty, Ford Loan Car Program, Auto Club membership (including roadside assistance), and Sync 3 map updates.

It's unclear whether pricing will change from the current MY19 line-up, which kicks off at $49,990 for the manual-equipped Mustang EcoBoost Fastback and tops out at $74,728 for the auto-only Mustang GT Convertible – all prices exclude on-road costs.

Ford Australia says pricing and "further details" will be announced closer to the MY20 Mustang's arrival in November. Stay tuned to Drive for all the latest.
