Holden Australia has released the limited-run Astra RS Black Edition, on sale now from $27,490 drive-away.

Based on the mid-spec RS hatch variant, the Black Edition adds some dark-themed enhancements to the exterior, and is on sale until September 30.

Upgrades include black 17-inch alloy wheels, black exterior accents (including roof, grille and mirror caps), ‘Black Edition’ decals and badging, a black interior headliner, along with rear privacy glass.

The Astra RS Black Edition is available in Absolute Red, Summit White and Nitrate Silver – the latter commands a $550 premium as it’s a prestige paint.

Carryover specification from the standard Astra RS includes keyless entry with push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, a 7.0-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, six-speaker audio, heated and power folding side mirrors, and a semi-automated Advanced Park Assist system.

There’s also blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assist.

Power in the RS Black Edition comes from the standard car’s 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which develops 147KW at 5500rpm and 280Nm between 1650 and 3500rpm. There’s 300Nm on tap between 1700 and 4700rpm with overboost, too.

Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, while fuel consumption is rated at 6.3L/100km on the combined cycle.

The Holden Astra RS Black Edition is on sale now priced from $27,490 drive-away.
