2019 Porsche 911 RSR unveiled

The new Porsche 911 RSR has made its debut at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Powering the new Porsche 911 RSR is a dry sump 4.2-litre six-cylinder boxer engine positioned ahead of the rear axle. Depending on the size of restrictor attached to it, the motor can produce up to 378kW of power, and remains naturally aspirated.

Not only is the new engine 200cc larger than the outgoing model's, the exhaust tips are now located just ahead of the rear wheels on both sides of the car, which has in turn improved the design of the rear diffuser.

Porsche's largest factory-fit six-cylinder boxer engine delivers its fury to the road via the rear wheels and a six-speed constant-mesh sequential transmission.

The car's body has carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) panels, which can be replaced quickly and easily by a pit crew, as well as a removable roof hatch and a racing seat with a six-point safety harness.

Improvements have also been made to the roll cage and overall safety structure, with more protection for the legs.

The 2019 911 RSR will make its race debut at Silverstone in September for the beginning of the 2019/2020 FIA World Endurance Championship season.
