Ferrari P4/5 Competizione

Avid Ferrari collector, Jim Glickenhaus and world-famous Italian designer, Pininfarina have been working away at designing the Ferrari P4/5 Competizione one-off special to be unveiled at the 2011 Nurburgring 24hr Endurance Race.

The design house has released this rendering of the upcoming track-special hypercar for us all to ogle until the public unveiling, next year. Commissioned entirely by Glickenhaus, the project will be based on the Ferrari F430 Scuderia and use the engine and drivetrain from the Ferrari F430 GT2; meaning 4.0-litre V8 with 447kW in a package weighing around 1100-1200kg.

We're not so sure about the looks, though. Fair enough, it is designed by the one-and-only Pininfarina, but that pointed, almost slab-like front end doesn't really scream pinnacle exotica. And the dome roof could easily be mistaken for something from the set of The Jetsons.

Obviously in the flesh the car will be extraordinarily exquisite, and around a track it'll probably turn like an architect's compass and stop like a slammed door, but until that hard copy is unveiled next year, this slightly disappointing image is all we can comment on.
