An issue with the tyre placards on two older-generation FCA crossovers has forced a recall.

Fiat Chrysler Australia has recalled the 2007-09 Dodge Nitro and 2008-09 Jeep Cherokee, over concerns about their tyre placards.

According to the company, the placard on the Cherokee lists an incorrect load and speed rating, while the placard in the Nitro has the wrong speed rating and lacks a 'p-metric qualifier'.

The incorrect information on the tyre placard could encourage owners to use their cars incorrectly, which could impact the safety of owners and other road users.

A total of 2559 vehicles are included in the campaign - a VIN list is attached here.

FCA will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealership. A copy of the original recall is attached here.
