2020 Kia Seltos interior revealed

The cabin of the 2020 Seltos has been revealed on Kia's Korean consumer website, giving us an early look behind the wheel of the compact SUV.

As expected, the Seltos will look a lot like the current Cerato small car inside, though there are several distinguishing elements.

First, there’s that centre screen. A 10.25-inch floating tablet-style infotainment unit features atop the dashboard, which offers split-screen functionality and the latest UVO 3.0 software (for Korea, at least).

Complementing the Seltos’ large touchscreen will be an available eight-speaker Bose premium sound system.

Other available tech features include a colour head-up display, a 7.0-inch TFT driver’s multifunction display, LED ambient cabin lighting, over-the-air software updates, remote start via an available smart key, compatibility for multiple Bluetooth device connections at one time, wireless smartphone charging, a USB charge port in the rear, heated and ventilated front seats, along with second-row seat heating for the outboard pews.

We can also see the dashboard will get a padded leatherette insert with visible stitching, shown in brown here.

Speaking of colours, the Seltos will be available with three interior colour ways in Korea: black, burgundy, and brown (pictured). Outside, six single-tone finishes will be offered (black, white, silver, grey, orange and blue) alongside five dual tone options (white, grey, orange, blue and yellow all with a contrasting black roof).

In addition to first images of the new model’s interior, the Korean website also details the available driver assistance features that weren’t mentioned when the Seltos was first revealed in India last month.

Highlights include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, driver attention warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and navigation-based adaptive cruise control that will not only keep distance with the vehicle in front but will also slow down for corners using map data.

Drive

The Korean domestic market will have two powertrains available, both turbocharged and both 1.6 litres in displacement – though one is petrol and one is diesel. It appears all models in Korea come standard with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and multilink rear suspension. All-wheel drive will be offered, too.

Australia

The Kia Seltos will arrive in local showrooms around October, with two petrol powertrains confirmed at launch – a 110kW 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol with a CVT and front-wheel drive, and the 130kW 1.6-litre turbo petrol with the seven-speed DCT and all-wheel drive.

Expect all models to come equipped with AEB and lane-keep assist as standard, with the wider suite of driver assists to be available as an option on lower grades and standard on top models.

Pricing is still to be confirmed, though it’s expected the Seltos will start around the $25,000 mark, climbing to the mid- to high-$30,000 bracket for higher grades – similar to the Hyundai Kona.
