Bentley Continental GT sets new Pikes Peak record

A Bentley Continental GT has set a new Time Attack 2 production car record during the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado.

With Rhys Millen in the driver's seat, the Continental GT finished the 20 kilometre hill climb in 10 minutes 18.488 seconds.

The new time is over eight seconds faster than the previous record of 10 minutes 26.896 seconds, which was set in 2015 by David Donner in a 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

According to the company, the 467kW/900Nm 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 sustained an average speed of 113km/h as it ascended 1.5 kilometres and carved its way through 156 corners.

Changes to the coupe driven by Millen include the fitment of a roll cage, a Sparco bucket seat, and an on-board oxygen system to connected to the driver's helmet.

The car also features eye-catch lime green paint, and livery which isn't shy about the car's racing number, 100, and its connection to the company's centenary celebrations.
