Singer preparing two specials for Goodwood

Singer Vehicle Design is preparing a two-car assault on the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a new customer commission joining the DLS revealed last year.

Making its public debut is the new Sussex Commission (above). Power comes from an air-cooled 4.0-litre flat six paired to a six-speed manual transmission, but Singer says it's more of a "discreet gentleman’s race car for the road".

"This car is used as a daily driver by its owner for everything from commuting to work to visiting the racetrack and is specified accordingly," the company says.

"The vehicle is a celebration of the 911’s ability to be the only car you need."

The Dynamic Lightweighting Study revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year will also be attending the 2019 event.

Power in the DLS 911 comes from a 4.0-litre flat-six engine developed by Williams Advanced Engineering.

With 373kW on tap at a dizzying 9000rpm, lightweight throttle bodies and a unique oiling system, along with its own pistons, cylinders and titanium con rods, it's being pitched as the 'ultimate air-cooled 911'.

Although it won’t be attending Goodwood, the eye-catching Mulholland Commission (above) has been revealed for the first time. With its custom livery and quad spotlights on the bonnet, power also comes from an air-cooled 4.0-litre flat-six, mated with a six-speed manual transmission.

Inside, the owner has opted to delete all the sound deadening, and has subbed the window glass for perspex. We'd wager it'll be a raucous place to spend time, then, especially given there are no interior panels, stereo or air conditioning.
