Ford Europe preparing three new badges for 2024
Ford is getting ready to launch a glut of new models in Europe, as it refreshes its line-up into the 2020s.
Ford of Europe will introduce three new model lines within the next five years, as it works on "freshening and expanding its vehicle line-up".
According to a report from Autocar, one of the three will be Ford's upcoming all-electric Mustang-inspired crossover, but the other two haven't been confirmed.
Ford released one of the models it hopes will reinvigorate its European market presence, the Puma, earlier this week. The Fiesta-based crossover will be sold alongside the unloved EcoSport in Europe, but it won't be coming to Australia, where it would go head-to-head with the Mazda CX-3.
It also has the new Kuga, aka Escape, coming soon. The three new models will supplement those cars.
“We are very focused in orienting our portfolio with where consumers are going," said Stuart Rowley, Ford Europe president.
"Many buyers are moving into the utility space, but for us the key question is where buyers are going next."
Rowley also said the expansion will focus on the "family utility" market. A seven-seat version of the new Kuga is in the works, which could lob with a fresh badge, and Ford is also developing a 'Baby Bronco' in the USA. Whether it'll be offered in Europe remains to be seen.
He also wouldn't confirm what the brand's plans for the Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max look like, telling Autocar they"remain part of our product portfolio for now. However, we need to adapt to the changing market".
