2020 Dodge Charger Widebody unveiled

The Dodge Charger Widebody has been unveiled, and will go on sale in the US from early 2020.

Thanks to the new wider front and rear wheel arches, the wide body Charger is 89mm wider than the standard sedan. The wide body configuration is standard on the Charger SRT Hellcat, and optional on the Scat Pack.

The Charger Hellcat has a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine making 527kW of power and 881Nm of torque. Dodge says it can complete the 0-60mph (0-97km/h) standard in 3.6 seconds

Top speed has been reduced by 13km/h to 315km/h, but the quarter mile (402m) time has been reduced marginally to 10.94 seconds.

A 362kW/644Nm 6.4-litre naturally-aspirated Hemi V8 is employed by the Scat Pack model, and is capable of 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and a 12.4s quarter mile.

Unlike the Challenger, the sedan versions of the Hellcat Widebody and Scat Pack Widebody are only available with an eight-speed automatic.

If you want the six-speed manual, it's coupe or nothing. The Charger Hellcat also misses out on the more powerful 535kW/889Nm Hellcat and 594kW/959Nm Hellcat Redeye engines available in the Challenger.

Both the Charger Hellcat and Scat Pack Widebody have 20-inch alloy wheels paired with 305/35 Pirelli P-Zero tyres.

Other changes include stiffer front springs, retuned shocks, larger sway bars, a redesigned front fascia, new side sills, and revamped rear spoilers.

Standard features include Launch Control, Launch Assist, Line Lock, an 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system, and 391mm Brembo front disc brakes with six-piston calipers.

The Hellcat also comes with Race Cooldown feature, which keeps the intercooler pump and radiator fan running even after the car is turned off.
