Porsche Heritage Design Packages: Retro design elements coming back

Porsche will bring some of its old-fashioned liveries and trim elements back from the dead, as it looks to extend the Heritage Design Package program launched on the 911 Speedster.

The wider 911 range will eventually be offered with selected elements from the Speedster, which was available with classic numbering on its side to call classic racers to mind. The range of heritage parts will start with trim options like corduroy, tartan, and 'pasha' checkerboard recreated with more modern materials.

A sketched out image, posted below, shows seat trim is just the start. With matte wooden trim, and subtle stripes running through the centre console, the picture suggests there are plenty of ways you'll be able to pay homage to your favourite retro 911.

"Old colour and equipment cards, museum vehicles, design elements from the corresponding era – we took all this as our inspiration to reinterpret the design language of the past," said Ivo van Hulten, director of interior design at Porsche.

Along with the heritage options, Porsche is preparing a special 'heritage' model for 2020. There are no details about what that'll entail, but we'd suggest the liveried 911 Speedster will serve as some kind of guide.

Owners of the Heritage Design special will also get a matching watch, developed in-house by the Porsche Design team.
