Fisker electric crossover reveal set for December

The brand's first SUV will be a style-focused offering aimed squarely at the Tesla Model Y, and will enter production late in 2021.

Fisker will unveil its Tesla Model Y rival in December this year, with a price below US$40,000 ($57,000) when it reaches production late in 2021.

Based on the image above, we can see the SUV's rear will be quite boxy, while the tail-lights look like a slimmer take on the latest Land Rover units. Meanwhile, the C-pillar is home to a high-set indicator repeater, and there are LED strips in the pop-out door handles.

We're interested to see what that rising beltline does to rear visibility, though, and curious to know if the rearward sunroof truly delivers the "extended open-air atmosphere" previously promised by Fisker.

Previous teasers have revealed 22-inch wheels will be available, along with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. Those massive wheels will reside under punched-out wheel arches, based on the teaser image published above.

The crossover will come with a battery pack rated at over 80kWh as standard, and a target driving range of around 480 kilometres (300 miles).

When production finally kicks off, Fisker will build the as-yet unnamed crossover at a factory in the USA. A location hasn't been determined as yet, but the company says it's "finalising" a facility.
