2019 Lexus NX pricing and specs

Lexus Australia has announced running changes for its top-selling NX SUV, which sees the addition of the company's latest safety technologies.

Dubbed Lexus Safety System+, the enhanced NX line-up now gets cyclist detection for the autonomous emergency braking system, lane tracing assist, and all-speed adaptive cruise control with stop&go function, allowing for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving on the freeway.

Lane tracing assist keeps the vehicle centred in its lane using the forward facing camera, and stay in its lane when lines can't be recognised in slow-moving traffic by tracing the path of the vehicle ahead.

Also new to the NX is road sign assist, which detects speed limits and projects them into the head-up display and multifunction display where applicable.

Finally, the new parking support brake system avoids collisions when parking by applying brake force when obstacles are detected by the parking sensors.

The new safety and driver assist features bolster existing standard technologies, including auto high-beam, trailer sway control, rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, along with tyre pressure monitoring.

As before, the NX is available in two engine guises and three trim levels – NX300 and NX300h, along with Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury.

NX300 models are powered by a 175kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, either with two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The NX300h, meanwhile, pairs a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric motor (two in the case of AWD versions), making for a combined power output of 147kW.

Pricing for the upgraded range is up $600 across the line-up due to the addition of new safety tech.

Despite being the company's best-selling model Down Under – and by some margin – the NX is seeing declines of late. May's figure of 284 registrations is a 25.8 per cent reduction on the same month last year, while its 1301 year-to-date sales is 21.4 per cent down to the end of May 2018.
