2020 Alpine A110S unveiled

Alpine has unveiled its new range-topping A110S, with a minor power bump and a smattering of exterior changes over the standard mid-engined sports car.

For the A110S, the standard car's mid-mounted 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine has been retuned to deliver 215kW of power at 6400rpm, and 320Nm of torque between 2000 and 6400rpm.

The increase of 30kW is thanks to increased boost pressure. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Alpine says the A110S is capable of completing the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds, or 0.1s quicker than the regular A110. Top speed is claimed to be 260km/h.

The A110S rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres up front, and wider 245/40 rubber at the rear.

Other changes include 4mm lower suspension, 50 per cent stiffer coil springs, hollow anti-roll bars that are twice are rigid, and standard Brembo brakes.

Styling changes include dark alloy wheels, black Alpine lettering on the boot, orange brake calipers, and a carbon-fibre flag design on the C-pillars.

The interior also benefits from orange stitching instead of blue, and Dinamica trim for the seats, headlining and door panels.

A Focal audio system, telemetry setup, and front and rear parking sensors are also standard on the A110S.

Options include exclusive Gris Tonnerre matte paint, lighter Fuchs forged alloy wheels, and a gloss carbon-fibre roof, which saves 1.9 kilograms.
