2020 Ford Territory EV unveiled

The Ford Territory EV has been unveiled ahead of its official launch in the second half of this year, and claims the honour of being the company's first all-electric vehicle.

Ford has yet to reveal any details about the Territory EV's drivetrain, although we do know the crossover is capable of 360 kilometres on a charge using the (more lenient) NEDC test cycle.

Visually, the Territory EV is distinguished from its conventionally-powered siblings by a revised front fascia with C-shaped LED driving lights, and a squarer design for its hexagonal grille, which also includes bronze colour highlights.

At the back there are new graphics for the tail-lights, a cleaner rear bumper treatment and, of course, no exhaust tips.

Inside the cabin, the EV gains a 10.25-inch instrumentation screen, and a futuristic-looking gear knob.

Other features include a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, natural language recognition system, and a smartphone app that allows owners to remotely check and control the car's charging status, and find nearby charging stations.

The Territory and the Territory EV are the first manifestations of the Ford of China's turnaround plan, which will see the company launch more China-specific models in collaboration with its local manufacturing partners.

All up, Ford of China plans to launch 30 new models for the Ford and Lincoln brands, including 10 "new energy" models, over the next three years.

Globally, the company's first EV will be a crossover "inspired by" the Mustang sports car.
