2020 Renault Zoe spied
Renault is readying a range of improvements for its re-imagined electric hatchback, which is likely to drop at Frankfurt in September.
The next-generation Renault Zoe has been snapped testing ahead of its debut at the 2019 Frankfurt motor show.
Although it's now seven years old, the original Zoe appears to have played a big role in deciding the design direction of the second-generation car. The headlights have a similar overall shape to the current model, and the flanks look curvy and inoffensive, as they are on the current car.
The new Zoe does look a bit larger than the outgoing car, which suggests interior space and load-lugging capability was high on the list of priorities.
Renault could be playing games with its fake body panels, though, so we'll have to reserve final judgement for when the car launches in September.
Under the skin, expect the Zoe to get a significant spec bump. 100kW CCS2 DC fast charging is expected to feature, although 22kW AC charging is likely to carry over for home wall box users.
Our spy snapper suggests the car will get a 50kWh battery, and a range of 400km on the combined cycle. That would drop it short of the Hyundai Kona Electric, but put the Zoe comfortably ahead of the Nissan Leaf.
A full suite of semi-autonomous driver assists is likely to feature, finally giving the Zoe kit like lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop&go.
