2020 Porsche Taycan spied again

German marque's first EV snapped during further development testing, in the lead-up to its reveal later this year.

The all-electric Porsche Taycan has been spied near the Nurburgring circuit in Germany this week, ahead of a reveal at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

It appears Porsche is doing less and less to conceal the final design of its first EV, though the colourful wrap is a little distracting from the slinky four-door coupe lines.

There's a clear link to the Mission E concept that previewed it, along with a blend of styling cues from the 911 and Panamera.

Slim LED units for the both the headlights and tail-lights will feature, with the rear set to get a full-width light bar like various members of the Porsche stable.

Final specifications are still to be confirmed, though the Porsche has previously confirmed the top-spec version of the Taycan will employ a dual-motor electric drive system with over 440kW and a 0-100 time of "well under" 3.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, driving range should exceed 500 kilometres, with 400V and 800V fast-charging methods to be supported depending on market.

Australia

Porsche's local division has confirmed the Taycan will arrive Down Under sometime during 2020, following the global reveal later this year.
