2020 Kia XCeed teased ahead of June 26 reveal

Kia Motors Europe has published the first official photo of the all-new XCeed crossover, ahead of its market launch later this year.

Based on the Euro-market Ceed hatchback, which itself shares components with the Hyundai i30 and the Kia Cerato sold here, the new XCeed has been revealed with a side-on image showing the vehicle's sporty fastback silhouette.

It looks like Kia is going to be creative with the colour options, too, given the eye-catching shade of yellow we can see here.

Being based on the Ceed, the XCeed should offer a range of three- and four-cylinder powertrains, including petrol and diesel options, along with the potential availability of a plug-in hybrid option.

Further details will be confirmed when the XCeed is fully revealed on June 26.

"The sporty design and demeanour of the new Kia XCeed CUV makes it more innately desirable than many taller, larger SUVs," said Emilio Herrera, chief operating officer at Kia Motors Europe.

"Yet it offers this without compromising on versatility, with its intelligent packaging achieving the cabin and storage space of an SUV in a sportier body and more compact footprint."

While Europe will get the XCeed to join the Ceed and Proceed family, Australia is set to get the all-new Seltos, based on the SP Signature concept, before the end of the year.

It appears the Seltos and XCeed will be revealed around the same time, given both are slated for their debuts in June.

The Seltos will also be sold across the wider Asia-Pacific region, along with North America, where it will slot under the Sportage.
