2020 Kia Seltos to be revealed ‘later this month’

Korean brand confirms the name of its all-new crossover, scheduled to go on sale before the end of the year.

Kia has issued yet another teaser for its upcoming small SUV, officially confirming the Seltos name spied on an un-camouflaged pre-production vehicle last week.

The company says 'Seltos' comes from Greek mythology and the legend of Celtos, son of Hercules. Kia has switched out the 'C' for an 'S' to imply "speed and sportiness" while also bringing the name in line with the Sportage and Sorento SUVs.

As with previous teasers, Kia has reiterated that the Seltos is aimed at the millennial generation and tech-savvy buyers, with an interior headlined by a new 10.25-inch infotainment system and configurable ambient lighting.

It will mark the first time the Korean brand has an entrant in the small SUV segment in Australia, given it has lacked a competitor to the likes of the Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Qashqai up until this point.

Further details will be confirmed when the Seltos is officially unveiled "later this month", before going on sale in Australia during the second half of 2019 – likely in September.
