2020 Ferrari hybrid spied and teased

The Italian sports car maker will launch its new hybrid supercar tomorrow, and it could have around 746kW (1000hp) of power.

Ferrari has published two official teasers for its upcoming hybrid V8 supercar, ahead of its launch on May 29, European time.

The teasers provide clues to the design of the new model's front and rear ends, albeit in a typically cryptic fashion.

Judging by the spy photos, Ferrari's first "mainstream" hybrid model – not a limited-run special like LaFerrari – will be a two-seat model possibly based on the F8 Tributo.

The prototype's design indicates it will have a petrol engine located behind the passengers and driving the rear wheels.

Rumours on the internet say the hybrid will feature a V8 engine and three electric motors generating a total of around 746kW (1000hp) of power.

Should this turn out to be the case, the new model should be faster than the mid-engine 530kW/770Nm F8 Tributo and 588kW/718Nm 812 Superfast.

The company has yet to reveal the car's name, but the new hybrid model is expected to go on sale globally from 2020.

Louis Camilleri, Ferrari's CEO, says, "It will be a top-of-the-line hybrid with supercar performance and a true beauty".
