2019 BMW 1 Series gets M Performance Parts

It may have only been revealed yesterday, but the all-new BMW 1 Series has already received the M Performance Parts treatment from the company's motorsport division, with the range of performance accessories already available in Europe.

Various components can be specified for the exterior and interior, optimising aerodynamics and enhancing aesthetics.

Carbon-fibre bits are available for the side mirrors and rear diffuser, which feature an eye-catching marbled effect, while the gloss black front splitter, rear wing and side sill extensions enhance the 1 Series' aero.

New sets of 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels are available too (19in pictured), as are 18-inch M Performance sports brakes with four-piston aluminium alloy calipers. The rears get single-piston floating calipers.

Other exterior features include LED door projectors which cast the M Performance motif onto the road on each side of the vehicle, which the company says "creates a very exclusive, distinctive atmosphere".

More options can be had for the interior, including the M Performance steering wheel with Alcantara grip areas, red 12 o'clock marker, and carbon-fibre insert (below).

For models fitted with automatic transmissions, buyers can also option carbon-fibre paddle shifters which "further enhance the motor racing atmosphere in the cockpit", according to BMW.

Rounding out the available performance accessories are velvet floor mats (above) with M Performance branding, contrasting seams, and a pennant in M colours. These mats are said to be non-slip and high-grip, and are obviously tailor made for the 1 Series.

The range of M Performance accessories for the 2020 BMW 1 Series will be available in Europe from market launch of the all-new hatchback.

Australia

The new 1 Series will land Down Under during the fourth quarter of 2019, though at this stage the availability of the M Performance Parts is to be properly confirmed.

However, the company's local division says it's in the process of discussing what M Performance bits will be available to our market and when, and that previous ventures with the M2 Competition, X5 and 3 Series from their respective market launch serves as a precedent.

Stay tuned for an update.
