Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall notice for the 2018 E-Class and GLC, over concerns the power steering could fail.
UPDATE, 28/5/19: The original version of this article stated the GLE was recalled, this isn't the case. It's in fact the GLC that is affected by this recall.
The three-pointed star reports that 'certain' vehicles across both model lines could have a sensor in the electric power steering system that was "manufactured outside of the specification".
If the condition occurs, the sensor could fail and disable the electric steering assistance. This poses a hazard to the driver and could increase the risk of an accident.
Owners are advised to contact their local dealer to have their vehicle repaired free of charge.
