2019 Genesis G70: Australian pricing

Genesis Motors Australia has revealed preliminary pricing and specifications for its long-awaited G70 sedan, with details showing up on the online configurator on the local consumer website.

Korea's competitor to the BMW 3 Series looks set to be offered in four trim levels and two engine variants, all rear-wheel drives and all fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Starting proceedings will be the G70 2.0T, with pricing to be between $58,000 and $61,000 before on-road costs.

Features included as standard from the base level include 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Continental tyres, genuine leather-appointed interior with quilting, real aluminium trim inserts, an 8.0-inch touchscreen navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a nine-speaker Genesis sound system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

Stepping up to the G70 2.0T Sport ($62,000-$65,000) brings 19-inch 'Sport' alloy wheels with dark grey finish, Michelin Pilot Sport4 tyres, Brembo high-performance brakes, a limited-slip differential, upgraded thermal cooling, dark chrome exterior accents, the choice of Sport Grey or Sport Red interior colourways, and unique exterior paint options compared to the base model.

Next is the G70 3.3T Sport, which will be priced between $71,000 and $74,000 +ORCs. Specification mirrors that of the 2.0T Sport, with the exception of the 272kW 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6.

For an additional $2000, buyers of the 2.0T and Sport models can opt for a panoramic glass sunroof.

Higher up the range is the G70 3.3T Ultimate ($78,000-$81,000), which adds an adaptive front light system, 16-way power adjustment for the driver's seat with two-position memory, nappa leather-appointed upholstery with quilting, ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats, a head-up display, a 360-degree surround camera system, along with a 15-speaker Lexicon by Harman premium audio system.

Finally, there's the G70 3.3T Ultimate Sport, which should be priced the same $78,000-$81,000 as the 'standard' Ultimate.

Specification additions include 19-inch Sport alloy wheels with dark grey finish, dark chrome exterior trim, Sport Grey or Sport Red nappa leather with sport quilting, and special exterior paint options.

Power in 2.0T models comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol making 180kW and 353Nm, while 3.3T models get the 272kW/510Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 from the related Kia Stinger.

It's understood the Genesis G70 range will go on sale in Australia in late June. Stay tuned to Drive for a full pricing and specs breakdown in the lead-up.
